Beta thanks: to [livejournal.com profile] tweedisgood, always a treasure
Notes: Written for the spring 2015 round of [livejournal.com profile] acd_holmesfest. [livejournal.com profile] inamac asked for a historical mystery with an emphasis on detection, and I tried my very best with my first ever case-fic. See end for notes on the real mystery, what I changed, and how it differs from ACD's solution – and he had one!

I came to Baker Street often in that late spring of 1890 for that strange, sweet respite of chaos... )

Watson shifted in the driver's seat, restless and uncomfortable in a borrowed professional's hat and jacket. )

Author's Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] hardboiledbaby for the 2012 [livejournal.com profile] acd_holmesfest exchange.

Title: Climb and Fall
Author: [livejournal.com profile] spacemutineer
Rating: PG-13
Summary: A canon-based missing scene from The Final Problem. After Moriarty's demise at Reichenbach, Holmes risks his life to end his life only to find himself haunted by the dead and the living once he succeeds.
Warnings: angst, canonical character death
Word Count: 796
Author's Notes: This piece is actually the second part of a prompt fill about Reichenbach and its immediate aftermath (the first was Zoetrope), but it stands up fine by itself. We're still not at the train quite yet, [livejournal.com profile] methylviolet10b, but we're chugging along. Sorry for the world's slowest fill. (I'm working on that speed thing, really I am...)

Title: Kindling
Author: [livejournal.com profile] spacemutineer
Word Count: 1562
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: angst, voyeurism without consent
Prompt: from the kmeme
Author's notes: Unbetaed, my apologies. And wow, this is not my usual thing at all. I'm not quite sure where it came from, as the prompt was not even close to my usual either. But here it is.
Summary: If the existence of a lover for Watson was obvious and unsurprising, discovering Watson’s newfound partner was in fact a man came as a bolt of lightning from the open sky.

Title: The Land of the Living
Author: [livejournal.com profile] spacemutineer
Word Count: 5827
Characters: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: angst, suicide ideation

Summary: Empty House AU. Watson recognized Holmes in his bookseller's disguise, but it wasn't the first time he had seen him since returning from Reichenbach Falls. He was determined to ensure that it was the last time, however, no matter how much he wished otherwise.

Author's notes: This is an AU blend of both canon and Granada's versions of The Empty House, a remix of sorts of Timing, a terrific piece by [livejournal.com profile] random_nexus, combined with a lovely prompt from the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] methylviolet10b (who also did a spectacular job as beta/midwife -- thank you!).

Title: Night on the Train
Author: [livejournal.com profile] spacemutineer
Word Count: 979
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson
Rating: R
Warnings: extremely dark subject matter (violence against a child), angst
Summary: He knows the flavor of failure, but he never gets used to its taste.
Author's notes: A small character study in canon/Granada. Mind the warnings, please.

Title: Returning
Author: [livejournal.com profile] spacemutineer
Word Count: 1369
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson
Rating: PG
Warnings/genres: Angst, references to character death
Summary: Post-Reichenbach, Watson returns to their rooms at 221B to discover what remains and what is missing.
Author's notes: This is a Granada-verse story, based on that version of "The Final Problem" (making the story somewhat non-canon-compliant, my apologies). The episode is viewable on YouTube or Netflix Instant Watch. It also resides in the same universe as my previous Granada piece, Adagio for Violin. Many thanks to the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] rat_chan for the divine prompt!

Fic: Steam

Title: Steam
Author: spacemutineer
Word Count: 1792
Characters: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Rating: PG
Warnings/genres: UST, H/C
Prompt from shkinkmeme: "Holmes and Watson play a game. It's wrapped around Hurt and Comfort. Holmes maybe allows himself to be injured a little too often, just to feel Watson's hands ghosting across his skin, just to feel him lean in close, his heart beating under his clothes and brow furrowed, attention concentrated just on him. Watson hates it when Holmes is injured. Hates it and loves it, even as he hates himself, because it means he gets to see that body stripped bare and he gets to touch without it being unseemly, feel the heat of it against his hands and pretend for just a moment that Holmes is his.
Teal Deer: H/C UST on both sides"
Author's notes: The idea for the unusual structure of this one made it both fantastically interesting to write and at the same time an enormous amount of frustration. In the end, it is much simpler than I originally had in mind, but that's probably a good thing and for the best.

Title: Adagio for Violin
Author: spacemutineer
Word Count: 861
Characters: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Rating: PG-13
Warnings/genres: UST, angst
Summary: The violin is a conduit, his form of expression for what cannot be said.
Author's notes: This is a Granada-verse story and was inspired by Adagio for Tron by Daft Punk from the Tron Legacy soundtrack. It is an exquisite piece and I couldn't help imagining Holmes playing it silhouetted against the window of their sitting room at night, particularly the beautiful violin solo at the end (about 3:07 in the YT video).

Title: Later. After.
Author: spacemutineer
Word Count: 659
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson
Rating: G
Warnings/genres: fluff
Prompt: from shkinkmeme: "So, Holmes is used to running himself ragged and collapsing from exhaustion after a case ends. Write for me the first time this happens after Watson moves in. Holmes passes out, then wakes up 18 hours later and Watson has taken off his shoes and tucked him in and made him all comfy with his BAMF nurturing instincts."
Author's notes: A small experiment into mild fluff with questionable results.
