Drabble: One Word

Title: One Word
Author: spacemutineer
Word Count: 100
Prompt: none
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson
Rating: G
Warnings/genres: none
Author's notes: This is Jeremy Brett's Holmes all the way. Of course, if I'm writing it, it always is.

I have never stopped wondering what it is he sees when he is at work. Arrested in thought, he is an elegant statue of stone and smoke, a sculpted gargoyle perched delicately but immovably on a parlor chair. He stares into the middle distance, rubs his hands together as if they were made of the smoothest silk and finds what he is after. The answer, the solution, the thread that binds the problem into a beautifully wrapped gift to be bestowed upon the world. With it, his grey eyes flash and I receive the one word I have awaited.

“Watson!”

Oh, thank you very much! That's high praise! Always great to meet another aficionado of Brett!Holmes.

Speaking of the meme, I actually just finished a story based on a request I never got around to posting. It's on my journal if you're interested.

You're welcome! Your writing is fabulous. You really can do a lot in so few words, and in such a beautiful way.

Of course, I'm very interested. Thanks for the heads up!
