Welcome to the first week of 60 for 60! Every Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] methylviolet10b and I will each be posting on our journals a small ficlet of either 60 words or a single sentence inspired by one of Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic canon Sherlock Holmes cases. We hope you’ll read along with us and join in the fun yourself with a miniature story of your own!

Today’s adventure is The Abbey Grange, a tale of heartfelt passion, well-hidden secrets, and devoted loyalty in the face of great risk. If you’ve never read it, please check it out and then maybe try your hand at a small fic inspired by it! Join us on our little adventure, won’t you? You can find more information here.

My own entry for this week is below, and don't miss there other great entries:

Any others I hear about, I will add links for. Please drop me a line if you decide to jump in too. Come along, the water’s fine!

60 for 60: Week 1: The Abbey Grange

"You have heard the evidence. Do you find the prisoner guilty or not guilty?"

The British jury tensed; this responsibility was sudden and sobering. He straightened his back, tucked his hands behind him and looked Captain Crocker over with care. The man was worn through completely by powerful love and concern. Watson rendered his decision quickly.

"Not guilty, my lord."

Next week on 60 for 60: from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Beryl Coronet. A precious national treasure finds its way into danger and a man discovers even his beloved family may not be worthy of his trust. Who can he turn to but the Great Detective?

Oooooh, this is excellent! I love Watson's internal musings and the posture details. :-) Not to mention his calling Holmes "my lord" purely in context. :-D Great work!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to our whole little experiment here. This is turning out much better than I had had even hoped. So many different, interesting fills. So glad we did this!

I love this idea and would love to join in, although I can't guarantee I'll be able to manage something every week. My first attempt is here.

I'm going to friend you in order to keep track of it, hope that's okay.

It seems like fun, a good excuse to read through them all, and it's just about the level of commitment that I can cope with.
